Short answer: it depends on which versions you are comparing!
Longer answer: Both Android and Apple phones have their strengths and weaknesses, but they are pretty similar. Try them both and see which one you prefer to use.
As an long-time Apple fan, I recently ran an experiment and used my iPhone 7 Plus and a Huawei P9 side-by-side for sometime.
Quality. The hardware quality and speed seemed a little better on the iPhone. The built-in functionality like GBoard, voice recognition and switching between apps was much better on Android.
Features. Usability and the range of options for customization seemed essentially the same on both phones. Kids can use both now, whereas they were stumped by Android devices several years ago.
Apps. The range of apps available for both platforms is similar, although Android apps are updated more frequently thanks to a faster approval process.
Is one really ‘better’ than the other? Not really!
The only big (positive) differentiator was the price - the Android phone had a much better price!
